Plants vs Zombies goes social
Kings of the casual, PopCap have just announced that Plants vs Zombies is going to become all friendly. The leading Chinese social networking website Renren Inc. will be the lucky host to what promises to be a monumental occasion for casual gamers the world over.
But there will be plenty of new stuff to keep die hards returning, PopCap's Shanghai studio have been working away on "new game modes as well as personalisation and social features". Socially we can expect to be able to invite our friends to our towns, these towns will be "custom-built to reflect the individual’s style". But gamers will be keeping their eyes on the all-new leaderboard.
James Gwertzman, VP of Asia/Pacific at PopCap Games, has had this to say on the matter:
"The passion for Plants vs. Zombies here in China is incredible. PvZ has tremendous, unprecedented brand awareness and popularity in China with almost one million people already signed up to a PvZ page on Renren.com. There is superb demand for the game and we are excited to deliver the world's first online multiplayer adaptation of Plants vs. Zombies in China very soon."
Plants vs. Zombies Social Edition will be a Renren.com exclusive and will be kept fresh will constant updates that will give out new zombies and power-ups!
