This Week On The NewsWire – 20th May 2011
Well, after weeks of downtime and after much support from some and anger from others in the gaming community, this week the Playstation Network has finally returned! It's been a tough time for PS3 and PSP users as of late and so Sony is currently trying to appease all these people with a program of rewards for their patience. We at XG247 are glad that PSN is back in action and long may it continue!
This week also saw the release of what will surely be one of the biggest titles of this year and a definite contender for Game Of The Year: LA Noire. We will have our in-depth review of the detective thriller in the coming days for all you budding crime-solvers to investigate.
As for the rest of the gaming world, here are our biggest stories to come out of this week...
- First up: a HUGE story this week as many, MANY details of the undoubtedly massive Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were revealed
- Let the debate as to "which is better?" commence once more as Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 was officially announced and detailed
- We brought you all the details on the newly-announced Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Limited Edition
- In a move surely designed to combat the earlier leak, Activision decided to reveal various teaser trailers for Modern Warfare 3, probably a little earlier than planned!
- The recent release of BRINK has been plagued with lag issues amongst some other problems, this week a fix was detailed, as well as upcoming DLC
- Warner Brothers made a move straight of out left field this week as they announced a new Batman game in the form of...a first-person shooter..?
- More details on another highly-anticipated special edition, this time for Gears Of War 3
- Randy Pitchford announced this week that an early access demo will be coming for Duke Nukem Forever, a little close to release date though..?
- A rather "Infamous" title got given it's release dates, but what could it POSSIBLY be?!
- Yet again, we sadly saw a computer game causing some controversy within the mainstream media this week and that game was....Portal 2?!?! Portal 2?! Really?!
- For those of you who might like to dabble in digital breasts (not looking at anyone specifically here), the Duke Nudem mini game was released onto the web
- The second of what will surely be more DLC for Fallout:New Vegas became available and we've got all the details here
- Not the biggest surprise ever but Gears Of War 3 broke a rather large record this week. Wowee!
- A new, rather chilling trailer was revealed this week for upcoming zombie action title Dead Island
- Staying with the zombie theme, it was announced this week that Plants vs Zombies will be "going social" soon
- Yet another special edition was detailed, this time it was the turn of RAGE

- We got a good look at some gameplay for Wrecked: Revenge Revisited with a new trailer
- A great new launch trailer was also unleashed for Red Faction: Armageddon
- Another gross and humorous video for Duke Nukem Forver too. Got a blocked throat? Then don't watch this!
- And finally, in what is surely an effort to reduce Apple's domination in this area, Microsoft announced a great-looking new deal for the nation's students. Procrastination ahoy!
