Confused about Call of Duty Elite? So are we…

code

In the next few days, or when we get further information about Call of Duty Elite, we here at XG247 will run a feature and some articles about it. In the mean time let us tell you what we know:

Not a lot. Other than it abbreviates to CoD:E or Code if you will.

Yes, after a rather lengthy and 'modest' press release from Activision, we have found that Call of Duty Elite is basically the new Multiplayer mode coming with Modern Warfare 3. Due to the amount of people that play online and the size of the community, casual player or otherwise, this dedicated service will offer a few things that multiplayer CoD doesn't already.

1) Social Networking. The community element will go beyond the forum and clan websites and be integrated into the game, as well as mobile communication and greater control of building a team and making sure all your mates are playing. You know, a bit like picking the football team at school and hoping you don't get picked last.

2) In-game and real world prizes. Ok so in-game is likely to be unlockable features and extras like in all other CoD games, but real world prizes? We haven't a clue. We're doubtful it'll be anything exciting.

3) Score tracking. Yup you can track your kills and points and levels and games via Elite. You know, basically Halo Waypoint and everything Bungie have been doing online since Halo 2 came out on the Xbox.

Want to know more? Well CoD: Black Ops users will have a beta of Elite over the summer to try and play and break and generally lobotomise. But the biggest thing is this.

There will be two options for CoD: Elite. A free one, and a premium one.

We're promised that most of the features (even though we don't know them yet) will be available in the free version but you get more for paying for it. Again a bit like the Xbox live memberships. You can have a free one, but you won't get hardly anything.

We'll let you know more when we know more but expect all of us, and most likely a lot of you (Quote Activision "The world’s most passionate online gaming community") , to be having a dig at this quite astonishing idea over the course of the summer.
