Two DVDs For 360 Version of MGS Collection
Set for release this November, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection which includes Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater and the PSP title Peace Walker, will arrive on two DVDs for the Xbox 360 version, Konami has confirmed. As expected, the PS3 version will ship on a single Blu-Ray disc.
Bearing in mind that the collection contains 3 full length games, there was never really much doubt that the 360 version would have to be split across DVDs, a problem which Konami arguably made a gag about in the PS3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots.
The collection, which contains all three titles remastered in high definition, will mark the first time these 3 great titles have been seen on these formats. Fans may be disappointed not to see the PS1 version of Metal Gear Solid remastered in this collection, though it has been available as a 'PSone Classic' from the Playstation store for quite some time, just not in HD glory.
"The METAL GEAR SOLID games have been a huge success, and the METAL GEAR SOLID HD Collection is a stunning way to celebrate this most inventive and entertaining series,” explains Konami Digital Entertainment's General Manager, Martin Schneider.
“Every aspect of the three games has been updated to ensure they look as fresh on their new host formats as they did when first released. Stealth fans should be prepared… November will mark the return of one of gaming and KONAMI’s most iconic series.”
I for one was considering dusting off my PS2 to replay Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater this summer, but now I think I'll wait a little while longer and play them in high-def...
