Unearthed, Not Uncharted… Honest

un

You can argue that there is rarely an original idea these days, but this just takes the biscuit.

New game Unearthed: The Trail of Ibn Battuta, which was due to be released on iPhone/iPad, Android, PC/Mac and PlayStation Network is now coming to WiiWare and Xbox Live Arcade.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that we said Uncharted, not Unearthed. And if you see the game in action, you'll be even more confused. In what you have to call an "homage" as opposed to anything more unsavoury, developer Semaphore from Saudi Arabia tell the story of a 'Fortune Hunter'. Faris Jawad travels to Morocco and traces the steps of famous Muslim explorer Ibn Battuta across the Middle East.

Semaphore explain that as the player you will "overcome an unholy alliance of a militia army leader, a weapons dealer and a wealthy antiquities smuggler who are after the same goal." In what they call an "unique mix" of platform/stealth 3rd person gameplay as you "travel across the Middle East, from the wildlife of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains to the alleys of Old Damascus through the port of Alexandria and the metropolitan city of Dubai".

Going to claim shenanigans? Well this is only in the early development stages so far and will be released in both English and Arabic. Check out the trailer below.
