Deep Silver released wrong version of Dead Island on Steam

DeadIslandNovel_post

Well that explains the Day One patchTechland had to produce in response the all the problems and bugs on it's launch of Dead Island for the PC - Deep Silver had accidentally released an "incorrect version" of the game on Steam.

Although there were no official word at the time, the initial buggy and problem filled release created speculation that Deep Silver had released a development build, rather than the finished product.

Deep Silver posted a statement on it's Facebook page saying:

We deeply regret that an incorrect version of Dead Island was inadvertently made available to players on Steam launch in North America.

We are very sorry for any issues you may have experienced while playing the game. The correct, patched version will be made available to North American players ASAP. Other territories are not affected by this situation, the fully patched game will be available on Friday as announced.

Deep Silver later confirmed that the proper build had been placed online and that all bugs would be fixed with this build:

North American PC users: The correct version of Dead Island is now live. Please check our news update at the link for further info. Thank you very very much for your patience and understanding!

The game is released this Friday in the PAL territories, so here's hoping we get the proper product on our Steam games!
