Patrick Bach on Battlefield 3′s expansion “Back to Karkand”: “it’s a lot of extra content a normal map pack wouldn’t give you”
Battlefield 3's launch wasn't the most successful in history, but after its less than perfect beginning it has now shifted a whopping 5 millions units. That's a huge target market for the upcoming expansion "Back to Karkand".
We caught up with Patrick Bach, Executive Producer for Battlefield 3 and asked him what sort of content we'll be getting when we download Back to Karkand.
XG247 (Sam Clay): Back in the day, expansion packs came with maps and additional content other than just those maps, is “Back to Karkand” an expansion pack in that sense, are there additional missions in there too, what’s going on?
Patrick Bach: The “Back to Karkand” expansion contains, of course, the new maps and then we have three new vehicles and ten new guns – on top of that we have more dog tags to get, it’s a lot of extra content a normal map pack wouldn’t give you, we want to give a bit of everything to the players.
It's great to see a team actually giving players more than a handful of maps in an expansion, it's about time we got back into the tradition of getting actual content in expansions again.
