Two Xbox 720 models are reportedly planned
Microsoft is likely to pursue a two SKU strategy for its next Xbox console.
The Xbox 720 may come with both a basic and an advanced version. It has been reported that it will offer a "pared down system to be released as cheaply as possible, and positioned more along the lines of a set-top box and perhaps as a Kinect-themed gaming portal".
This basic version would be released alongside "a more fully-featured machine with optical drive, hard disk and backward compatibility aimed at the hardcore would be released at a higher price-point".
So with two possible Xbox 720s to choose from, people will be able to buy what they want out of their machines.
There is currently no clear release date for the Xbox 720.
