Battlefield 3 banned in Iran
Trouble with realistic modern shooters is that someone, somewhere, needs to be the baddy. Go ask Russia, they know how it feels. Us Brits have forever had to bare the weight of being the super villain in games and bond films too, bit more glamorous at least - and we secretly like it.
However, the Iranian government sees no silver lining on the baddy cloud. They have banned Battlefield 3 for it's content depicting warfare in the Iranian captial, as well as the over arching story of Iranians being the baddies.
Retail copies are unavailable in Iran anyway, however, the government are stepping up the pressure on stores selling bootlegged copies and pirated copies.
There are reports of a petition in Iran for the cancellation of the ban, and to introduce retail copies into Iran. I can understand frustration from a country for being shown as the enemy in a modern and "realistic" video game, however, I think banning any form of art/entertainment is real life baddy behaviour.
