Skyrim's first expansion, Dawnguard, arrives mid July.

Yes it's here.  Bethesda are putting the final touches to their first expansion pack for Skyrim, Dawnguard. At the moment it looks set to be released in mid July for France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Announced in a tweet by Bethesda, Xbox 360 users will be lucky enough to have the expansion become available on the 26th of June in English. Unfortunately PS3 and PC users will need to wait a bit before the content is available.  While Bethesda haven't yet announced a release date for Dawnguard on the PS3 and PC it could be set to last over a month before PS3 and PC gamers are able to play this piece of DLC.

The pack adds over 15 hours of content to the already lengthy RPG and adds two new factions to the game.  The vampires, who are now much more capable than before, and the hunters known as the Dawnguard.  While the story and quest lines still have yet to be seen by those who were not on the beta it does look like Bethesda have made some very impressive changes to the vampiric powers and with the addition of crossbows.

The hype behind Dawngaurd has been large since it was first teased at in the initial screenshot and trailers shown by Bethesda but it can't be ignored that some gamers could feel a little disappointed with the wait they'll have to endure while other console users are able to freely explore the new content to their hearts content.  Here's hoping Dawnguard lives up to the hype otherwise the sun might set too soon on this new dawn for Skyrim.
