FIFA 13 to be a Wii U launch title
EA's Summer Showcase has announced FIFA 13 will be released on Wii U
EA say that the game will be running on the same engine as it does on Xbox 360 and PS3 and the casual demographic of the Wii U will be embraced to ensure "anyone can play" as they will put "more power in the hands of the user, particularly casual users" . Hardcore users don't need to worry, they maintain if you play on the hardcore consoles, you can still play the way you want.
The Wii U's controller has been taken into consideration and has a fair few unique uses:
- It can be used as an aiming reticule for set pieces, giving users loads more precision, but EA promise that this won't be a gimmicky way to ensure goals as it won't be as easy as point and click.
- If you're about to shoot, you can shake the controller and tap the screen to aim your shot. A picture of a goal will pop up on the screen and you simply tap where you want to place the ball.
- You can use the touch screen to pass wherever you tap.
- In game there will be tabs down the side of the controllers screen. On the manager tab you'll be able to view stats quickly to see if you need to change formation or tactics. The substitution tab will show how tired a player is or how well they're performing, there's no need to pause you can tap the person you want to bring on. The formations tab allows you to change formations on the fly without pausing and the tactics tab similarly lets you change tactics on the fly, stopping the propblem on other consoles where you break up a game if you want to change up your tactics.
