Things you might have missed: A closer look at the Mann vs Machine trailer
We're sure you've seen the announcement trailer for MvM. But did you miss anything the first time you watched it?
Valve are known for their love of hiding things in trailers so we've gone through the Man vs Machine announcement trailer with a fine toothed comb to see if we've been able to see anything that you might have missed the first time you watched it. Now, we're not going to go ahead and confirm anything we see, because we like not having lawyers pester us, but you might want to keep an eye out for them in the future just in case we're right.
Here's the trailer so you can view along and see what we're pointing out:
Here's what we noticed:
When the Blu Soldier and Demoman are playing cards over a few beers, you can see a canteen next to the Soldier. At this moment in time, the Soldier doesn't have any canteen shaped items, so this could be a new item for him similar to the Scout's Bonk! or Crit-a-Cola. You can also see this canteen in the back of the Soldier's belt at the end of the video when the team are circled up.
Another possible incoming consumable item is this cigar. Until now the Spy is the only class that is known to smoke so it seems unlikely that dropping this shot in is purely artistic. Your guess is as god as ours as to what the Soldier would be able to do with his new found addiction though.
The first time we've ever seen members of both teams in one room not trying to kill each other leaves the Demoman with a shotgun in his hand and a smile on his face. Seeing as it's confirmed that you'll be upgrading weapons and abilities between rounds in Mann vs Machine, it could well be possible that the Demoman begins the game with the standard shotgun instead of his trusty explosives.
This Scout's gum is the same deal as with the Soldier's cigar, we've never seen him chewing it before and again it seems unlikely this is just for the sake of artistic license. We reckon that this could be a consumable like the punch or the cola. But instead of the effects having to be activated, we think that as long as you have it equipped, it'll have effect as the Scout shouldn't really be swallowing that pink treat.
If you've been following the lead up (1,2) to the MvM announcement you'll notice that the heads of the robots aren't the heads that were found in the Valve Source Filmmaker files. It's possible that the images we've seen before were scrapped for this new look, but we think they're going to be some sort of unlockable hat for either the robots or for you to wear in the other game modes.
That's all we've seen for now, but we'll still be watching excitedly for at least another four hours. If you've spotted something we've missed, put it in the comments below!
