Bounty details revealed for Team Fortress 2′s Mann vs Machine
Following this weeks announcement of the new Mann vs Machine mode for TF2, the Team Fortress 2 website has been updated with more details on the new mode.
On Tuesday it was was announced that the mode would be released on the 15th of August - click through for the full lowdown - and yesterday details regarding the Mercs were released.
Today we've learned more about the bounty you'll be earning in MvM:
Valve have revealed that MvM will be free, but there's also something called "Mann Up!". Mann Up mode is when you play Mann vs. Machine on an official Mann Co. server - to enter Mann Up mode you have to have a Tour of Duty Ticket, this costs $0.99. But if you don't buy one, you can still play MvM on community servers.
We'll also be seeing the Tour of Duty Badge. "It will be automatically granted to you the first time you successfully complete a Mission in a Tour of Duty while in Mann Up Mode. Each successful Mission will be marked as completed on your ToDB. When you complete an entire ToDB, you'll receive a random rare item reward and an upgraded ToDB of a higher rank, allowing you to complete each Mission again to earn more items."
The item's you'll earn in Mann Up mode are cosmetic, so there's no item's with effects you'll have to pay for. "Each time you complete an unfinished Mission on your ToDB in Mann Up Mode, you'll earn an item. This will consume the Tour of Duty Ticket you presented to enter Mann Up Mode. When you complete all of the Missions on a ToDB, you’ll earn a random rare item. These rare items can only be obtained by completing ALL Missions in a Tour of Duty."
You and some friends can save some money on tickets by buying a Squad Surplus Voucher, though. "If you present a Squad Surplus Voucher prior to starting a Mission in Mann Up Mode and then beat the Mission, you and every person on your team will receive an item, even if they did not present a Voucher themselves. Squad Surplus Vouchers are available in the Mann Co. Store for $1.99."
So. That's all there is to know about the loot in MvM. It's a free new game mode, but if you want the items it brings, you'll be paying a little bit each time.
