Ratchet & Clank All 4 One Set For Autumn 2011

So Insomniac Games have announced 2 new games at GamesCom, with a brand new Ratchet & Clank game revealed alongside news of Resistance 3.

The next instalment in the series, Ratchet & Clank All 4 One, will feature online 4 player co-op, along with same screen drop-in, drop-out co-op gameplay between four characters. Confirmed playable characters at the moment are, as expected, Ratchet, Clank as well as Qwark and Dr. Nefarious. Players will have to work together, with their characters able to combine their abilities and use use cooperative weapons like a 4-barrelled cannon.

According to Insomniac Games' Studio Director Chad Dezern, the game has been in development since January 2009. "The game is about cooperative play through and through. We want to make it easy to get together with friends and family, get in a game and have fun in the Ratchet universe. We’re working hard to capture the feeling of fighting through amazing battles with other players, whether they are on the couch next to you or playing online half-a-world away."

UPDATE: The official website gives an insight to the story. "We find our heroes in the midst of a dilemma of intergalactic proportions when Dr. Nefarious’ latest evil plan goes awry leaving Ratchet, Clank, Qwark and Nefarious himself caught in the snare of a powerful and mysterious machine. Begrudgingly, the Galaxy’s biggest do-gooders and its most sinister criminal must work together to discover a means of escape in this action-packed installment of the Ratchet & Clank series."
